What to watch

You real runners have a season. The weather turns warmer and you pull out your shoes to do some pavement pounding while trying to decide what races to run. There's marathon training and so on...That all sounds great and awesome...but my season(s) begin and end with television series premieres and finales. For instance, Winter - January through March means Biggest Loser, Walking Dead, Downton Abbey. Then they all ended and I got Mr. Selfridge and The Following. Now we're coming to an end on both and I wonder what will keep me engaged. Because running for me is about getting two things done at once: mindless TV and running. I don't run outside. It's beautiful out there - the sun, the birds - oh! hello neighbor! Yeah, no. I prefer my treadmill in the basement with my DVR.I never called myself a runner and I would never answer to the title. Because real runners like running outside, on trails, in nature, or the street. I just like watching TV.

However...I am competitive. I don't generally subscribe to life goals or...you know...goals of any kid. But when I got up to running10 miles on Saturdays I started thinking, maybe I could run a half. Then a friend reminded me that 10 miles on a treadmill and 10 miles outside are like distant cousins that only see each other at weddings and funereal. One cousin  is on the rowing team and earns a 4.0 GPA and has friends with names like Buffy. the other cousin watches Honey Boo Boo and learned to smoke a joint when she was 12 and her friends are named Britney and live in trailers. But, they both bought Beiber's last album. See, same but different.

All of that nonsense said, here's the point: I sort want to give running a marathon a try. Why? Because I have never really set a goal and tried to follow it before. And running is something I do everyday now. So why not push it?

Here's the other wicked important thing about me: Eating. I don't eat for fuel or anything (I mean duh, I do, but that's a given). I love to eat. Restaurant menus top the list of things I like to read! I could spend an eternity on Pinterest looking at pictures of food and their recipes. I think about food a lot. So part two of the burning question: Why do you run everyday? is this: Because if I didn't, I would weigh equal to my 13 year old Ford Focus. Fact.

So this thing I am doing, it's both about food and running off the food I eat while watching beloved television...and maybe fun anecdotes about my adorable silly fun red headed baby daughter.
